Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are a significant public health issue. Diseases primarily transmitted through sexual contact include, among others, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydial infections, genital herpes, bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, human papillomavirus (HPV) infections, hepatitis, and the particularly important HIV infection-AIDS. Diagnosis is made through laboratory tests with simple blood sampling, which identify antigens and antibodies against the viruses (Hepatitis A, B, C).
