Liver Elastography

Liver elastography is a completely painless, quick, and simple examination, conducted with the help of advanced ultrasound technology. In combination with serological markers that assess liver function, it can replace liver biopsy for many patients.

A key advantage of the method is its reproducibility and the ability to quantify findings (kPa).

All patients suffering from chronic liver conditions, such as chronic hepatitis of any etiology (B, C, autoimmune), alcoholic hepatitis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, steatohepatitis, drug-induced hepatitis, cholestatic syndromes, and hemochromatosis, should be evaluated for the possibility of fibrosis before liver cirrhosis develops, in order to promptly proceed with appropriate therapeutic management.

Liver elastography adds additional criteria to the diagnosis of liver damage, such as fibrosis from chronic hepatitis or liver cirrhosis, and can help in staging the disease and monitoring the effectiveness of treatments applied depending on the condition.

It is recommended to contact the Diagnostic Center you will visit for clarifications regarding preparation, as this may vary based on the patient's history.
