It provides a non-invasive method for assessing the gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas, utilizing magnetic fields and radio frequencies to create detailed and reliable images. It does not require catheter insertion or other interventions, making it a safe examination for patients without the risks associated with radiation.
Uses of MRCP:
Diagnosis of Choledocholithiasis: Detection of stones in the gallbladder or bile ducts.
Evaluation of Strictures: Assessment of strictures in the bile ducts due to inflammation or other causes.
Monitoring Anomalies: Monitoring changes in the anatomy or pathology of the bile ducts and pancreas.
